3/30/23 UPDATE
ERDBA Directors approved temporary 3 year amendments to our by-laws.
  • 3/30/23 AGM: waiving 2023-2025 ERDBA Festival membership dues for all club members in good standing who also host/run a Dragon Boat Festival.
  • These clubs must still complete an ERDBA Festival registration membership form to ensure their event complies with ERDBA event standards for sanctioning. 
12/6/22 REMINDER
All ERDBA Clubs and Festivals need to pay their 2023 Membership due by January 1, 2023 to maintain your ERDBA membership in good standing
4/3/21 UPDATE
ERDBA Directors approved temporary 1 year amendments to our by-laws.
  • 4/3/21 AGM: waiving 2022 ERDBA membership dues for all 2021 Festival members in good standing. 
4/18/20 UPDATE
In light of Covid-19's impact on the start of water activities, the Directors approved the following amendments to our current by-laws relating to the 2020 and 2021 membership dues:
1. 2021 ERDBA Club membership dues waived to all clubs IF they paid their 2020 club membership dues.
2. 2021 ERDBA Festival membership dues waived for the festivals who paid their 2020 membership dues AND
  • cancelled their 2020 event OR
  • posted a greater than 50% drop in total 2020 team registrations from 2019.

ERDBA no longer has "qualifying rules" to participate in regionals since we no longer award IDBF Club Crew bids.  Those bids are now only awarded at the USDBF National Championships.  Participation in the USDBF National championships requires teams are members in good standing of their regions.

IDBF WCCC require racers compete on only ONE club crew at that event.

Sanctioned ERDBA festivals, events are evaluated according to meeting 8 of the following 14 criteria;
  • ​Standard IDBF race distances (200m, 500m, 1k, or 2k)
  • Finish line camera(s)
  • Electronic race timing technology
  • Clearly marked lanes (buoys every 100m suggested)
  • Lanes of even water depth
  • Minimum lane width of 9m
  • Lanes that do not create an unreasonable competitive advantage or disadvantage
  • Utilization of USDBF/IDBF/DBC qualified race officials
  • Utilization of like quality dragon boats (same manufacturer/model) so that there is no competitive disadvantage
  • Emergency First Responder team readily available
  • Safety boats in the water/effective paddler rescue plan in place
  • Evacuation plan in the event of weather emergency
  • Advance filing of rosters for sport crews
  • Employ roster checks for all sport crews
