CHECK LIST
for International traveling crews

  • Team Manager
    • Secure racing numbers (bibs) for your racers. You can purchase these from local vendors - but it's generally cheaper to just purchase the ones provided by event host - plus they will have the event logo on them. It is good idea to get an extra set or two for those who tend to lose stuff
    • extra copies of rosters forms, everyone's health sheets, and passport numbers
  • Individuals
    • Travel
      • Passport and a photo copy placed in a separate bag
      • wrap your paddle blade with 15 x 10 1/2 envelopes lined with bubble wrap
      • secure a VTR on your cell and computer gear to protect yourself from physical and virtual theft
      • travel directions, hotel name, 
      • load up your cell phone with travel apps (touring, language, money exchange)
      • copies of your airline ticket(s), passport identification page, credit cards, driver's license, and other documents you plan to carry with you. Store these records in a separate place from the originals to expedite the replacement process
      • ATM, Credit Card
      • CARRY ON:
        • Bring on board plenty of Gatorade (i guess you bring the powered form and then mix with water into a drink) to help keep you hydrated on the long flight and keep electrolytes up.  
        • carry on stuff you can't afford to lose (racing uniform, paddle)...check the rest.
        • Long haul flight: ear plugs, eye cover, compression sleeves (legs), pillow.
        • I bring cough drops to help keep my throat deal with the dry state of the airplane.
      • Room stuff
        • ear plugs for your snoring roomie (or earplugs for your roomie)
        • personal medication (aspirin, Advil ...etc), a listing of your medical requirements
        • flash light for room
        • cell phone with charger (with international adapter)
    • Racing
      • paddle, pfd, butt pad, grippy stuff (wax, towels)
      • snacks, powers for drinks you normally consume at races (may not be available on site)
      • rain gear, sun block, sun glasses, hat, 
      • footwear
      • UNIFORM!
      • resting mat/towel
      • plastic bags, beach towel, set of race day dry clothes, camelback-like hydration system.
      • small locks to close your gear bag on race days
      • prepare for hot days, cold days
    • Other stuff
      • extra batteries for your camera
      • binoculars
