ERDBA's Ambassador Program includes Safesport training. We are now partners with all the US Olympic Sports Programs in striving for supporting a safe environment through this training. As a sports community we - coaches, athletes, parents, officials, volunteers, team leaders, and sport leaders – can commit to prevention and speaking up. Beginning in 2018, ERDBA directors agreed to subsidizing SafeSport training for our members - taking the first step of any dragon boat organization in the USA to do so. Today, USDBF and other regions agree, SafeSport is for our sport.
SafeSport policies are aimed at eliminating any form of sexual misconduct, emotional misconduct, physical misconduct, bullying, harassment and hazing in our sport. This online training program offers tools and suggestions how how to keep your team safe by recognizing the things that hurt a team. Bullying, harassment and being mindful of the misuse of power eventually hurt all of us. As a community we all can commit to prevention and we can commit to speaking up. ERDBA is fully committed to the SafeSport program. SafeSport is something we do, every day in all activities. We can create an environment where all members know the rules, are comfortable talking about it, and are empowered to recognize and report red flag behavior, boundary violations, and misconduct.
